How To Protect Your Dog From Theft

In this day of age thinking about all the things that are important to you and how you can protect them from the unscrupulous can be a full time job. Often on the bottom of the list of concerns though is your dog. Not because you don't love them dearly and they mean the world to you, its you just can't phantom why anyone would want to steal a dog.

Unfortunately with the rising costs of purchasing a dog now it has opened the doors for thieves to step in and make a dishonest living. They have no difficulty stealing a dog then taking it to another city and selling it. This is a heart wrenching situation for the dog owner, and for the unsuspecting purchaser who in many cases has no idea they are buying a dog that has become stolen.

Here are some hints to help you keep your dog safe.

Don't leave the dog in your yard if you are leaving home no matter for how short a period of time.

Don't leave your dog tied up outside a store

If you allow your pooch to run lose in the park be sure he is never out of your site

If you see someone paying interest in your dog go to the dog immediately and put the dog on a leash where you can keep control of him.

Do not allow a dog walker to take your dog without checking out all of the credentials that any reputable dog walker should easily be able to produce when asked.
